Von Bayros, Franz, Marquis

(1866 Agram-4/3/1924 Vienna) (Austria); aka Bayros, Franz von / pseudonym Choisy le Conin

   Book illustrator, bookplate designer, and painter. Studied at the academies of fine art in Vienna and Munich and influenced by work of Beardsley. Erotic portfolios he produced include the "Bilder aus dem Boudoir der Madame CC," "Die Gre-nouilliere," "Fleurettes Pupurschnecke," "Die Memoiren der Fanny Hill," and "Garten of Aphrodite." Known to have designed over 300 erotic bookplates. At one time he was brought to court in Budapest on obscenity charges, but won his case (largely due to the subtlety of his eroticism).
